Welcome to Skyline School of Flying

Whether you're looking to fulfil a childhood ambition, or seeking to develop a career in aviation... Skyline School of Flying would like to help you.

Skyline School of Flying is located at Little Gransden Airfield on the border of Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire. An idyllic grass airfield situated on the Bedfordshire/Cambridgeshire border, a short distance from the A1, Skyline is a family-run, well-maintained facility, which features aircraft operating in a safe environment. We are the only commercial operator based at Gransden Airfield, which means no holding for other users when departing from or arriving at the airfield. We offer both flying tuition and facilities for existing holders of pilot's licences, and offer a family orientated environment where children are welcome.

Skyline offers newcomers to the flying experience an ideal opportunity to "try before you buy" with individuals being able to take advantage of Skyline's Trial Lesson facility. This provides a 20 minute "taster" session with one of the School's experienced instructors, who allow the student to take the controls of the aircraft under their expert guidance. Ideal as an easy-to-access introduction to light aircraft piloting, or as a gift idea for a friend or loved one, or even as a reward for success in a particular area of the recipient's life, such as passing an exam or driving test, Trial Lessons are available from just £35 making it both an affordable and enjoyable option to consider.

The School's fleet of aircraft includes a Piper Lance (PA-32R six-seater tourer with retractable undercarriage), an Archer II, a Warrior, Cherokees and a Cessna. We aim to bring the magic of the Private Pilot License within reach of many who might otherwise find it difficult to afford. We believe we offer the most competitive rates in the UK for aircraft hire and flight training, especially considering our ab initio PPL/NPPL packages.

Once you've qualified, you'll want to use your license to explore new territories. Skyline does not differentiate between student and qualified pilots for aircraft hire charges. For PPL holders wishing to do some serious touring or wanting to take family and friends with them, the Piper Archer 181 and PA-32 Lance are also available.

Many pilots are more than happy to maintain the basic PPL. However, for the more ambitious aviator, we can offer the IMC Rating, Night Qualification and complex type conversions. Conversely, following requests from our members, we have recently started to offer a safety pilot course for those frequently flying passengers.

The club also has an active social scene. Members organise fly-outs from time to time. The best way to find out about these is to come along and get to know people!
