August 2002

Despite all my ranting about planning ahead, here I sit, burning the midnight oil. A few very hastily written paragraphs to follow as I rush to get everything done before going away...

Achievements

July weather has been kind enough to allow a good number of solo flights, including two Qualifying Cross Country trips. Both QCC trips went well despite a temporary compass deviation problem, and a near miss with a chef!

Congratulations to Jon Dyer and Matt Russell for their QCC's, and to Mark Comer, Martin Thorpe and Mark Hadley on their 1st Solos.

Radio Course:

I will be running a course on Thursday evenings from 7 to 9pm, starting 16th August. The first session will cover all theoretical aspects, format of the tests, and preparation for the practical part of the course, which should last 2 to 3 evenings. The format will be informal, and there will be a charge per evening.
Venue will be the cabin, unless anybody has a better idea, and everybody is welcome, but priority will be given to those closest to their skills tests. Please speak to Graham or email me.

Oil dip sticks:

Cessna- Please secure it firmly. It takes considerable work to put the aircraft back into the air after a dipstick has been left loose, not to mention the frustration for those due to fly it next.

Pipers- They just need to be nipped up gently.

That's all from me this month.
